Restaurant review I really wanted to like this restaurant so much, but it fell far off the deep end. I have a knack for liking diners especially family own ones. This place fits the mold perfectly, but I must have ordered the wrong food. I had the chicken Parmesan and after ordering I could hear the cook microwaving my entire meal. First the chicken then the pasta with the chicken and cheese. They forgot to bring out my soup beforehand and my waitress went back in and I heard the microwave zapping my food again. The chicken noodle soup looks exactly like the campbell chicken noodle. The menu promised fresh home made bread but that was not to be seen at all except for garlic bread triangles. There use to be a lot more steak items for dinner based on the menu outside, but I did not really see any on the menu. Oh well, worth the experience I guess but I will not be back Pro: cheap price Cons: microwaved food.... sigh Hidden gem: None

Love this place. The food is great, the people are nice, and the place is clean. It's perfect for breakfast. Try the chilaquiles - not on the menu but very good.

Good breakfast. I had the meat lovers omelette. It was ordinary. It came with potatoes and toast. Cool spot in my neighborhood. They have several breakfast dishes with chicken nuggets.

my son and i went there with a restaurant.com gift card. don't let the outside scare you. there's plenty of parking and the place is very nice. we didn't order anything special. my son had breakfast which he said was very good and i had a chicken double decker sandwhich. portions are very generous. both were very good. i pass the place alot and will stop in again and try their specialties. friendly atmosphere.

This place is really yummy and the menu is way larger than I expected. I've come here for lunch a couple times with a coworker of mine and couldn't believe I'd never gone before as it's only a few blocks from my rental abode. I had grilled cheese both times. Mmm... I know it's hard to mess up a grilled cheese (unless you're me, which is why I'd rather order them at a restaurant for way more than the cost of making my own) but nevertheless... I can't wait to go back with my husband. I think he'll really dig it.

Overall first impression was good. Wait staff friendly and attentive. Place appeared clean and fresh for the most part (would recommend however keeping hot sauce lids clean--not appetizing looking; note however that there's a good selection of hot sauces). Good menu variety. Served timely and hot, and it was satisfying. Would recommend switching to homemade corned beef hash though--it's a breakfast place so serving canned hash is a no-no (and I know canned hash when I see it and taste it). All three meals were hearty and satisfying-- eggs over easy just right, omelette was tasty, and breakfast sandwich just right. Loved the hash brown potatoes--just the right amount of crunch. It met our expectations, so we'd go again.

Its hardcore sloppy, greasy and stick to your ribs food. The food is always delicious and the service is usual pretty okay. It has a diner feel. If your looking for a critique review you wont find it here. If your a very picky person don't go here because you will be disappointed. But if your drunk, feeling the munchies, starving and want home cooked food then come to moms place.

I've never actually eaten here. I hope to in the future. But I drove past earlier this week and I was simply mystified by that logo. What exactly is going on in between the words?

The NY strip steak breakfast is foodgasmic. The meat is so tender and seasoned just right. No need for steak sauce. The coffee is nice and strong, ask for warm milk ;) the food is plentiful and the service is friendly and welcoming.

Be sure to have time to wait for your food. Took an hour to get our order.

Love this place. Family owned, incredibly tasty, and friendly as hell. Excellent prices and the food quality is very fresh. I'm always surprised this place isn't busier. Free parking along the building, air conditioned, and free Wi-Fi. Oh, and you can meet both Mom and Dad. Mom serves and dad cooks. The daughters help out as well. I feel like family when I'm here.

BEST DELIVERY IN THE AREA!! Especially the burger... fresh beef ground on location, the "1/2 lb burger" is well more than that (we've weighed it a few times lol), and everything we've gotten otherwise is phenomenal.

Family run with a lot of love. We go here for breakfast at least twice per month. The Gypsy skillet with "chinks" of ham is awesome and the Mexican skillet with chorizo is muy bueno! Be sure to read the entire menu, some of the typos will crack you up!

Don't be put off by the location, across the street from the concrete yard. Don't worry about parking, they have their own lot! Wait til you taste the food! This is owned by a Mexican-American family, Dad and mom are in the kitchen, the daughters wait the tables....with care. The food is outrageously good, the portions are huge...the choices are fantastic. Mexican salsa's are homemade, tortilla's are served wrapped in hand embroidered linen cloths...it's absolutely charming! We love breakfast there, but all the food is good...all the time; these owners are perfectionists and it's paid off!

So I have lived in Oak Park, about a mile from this place, for over 5 years. I noticed its humble sign and fairly convenient location, and kept drivin right by this place. On purpose. **Oh, what a fool I was!** I stopped in there with my significant other last weekend, because we wanted to go somewhere new for breakfast and @OakPark on Twitter recommended it to us. Upon walking in, it was filled with a diverse crowd, and the typical pink and green vinyl booths and linoleum top tables you would expect based on the outside :) I don't mean that at all in a bad way. You always know in a place like that, that inexpensive but solidly good breakfasts of enormous proportions can be had. And hey, all of their breakfasts came with grits or oatmeal, toast or english muffin, and the option to get pancakes for a measly $1 fee. Service was fast and friendly. Their lunch and dinner menus looked pretty good too, all the usual suspects. W definitely plan to go back and try their steak, as we've heard it is suprisingly good and the sign outside claims they have the best steaks. We'll put that claim to the test!

Mom's is an incredible place. It is easy to miss being across from Mohr Concrete, but it has been trapped in time. Excellent service, really tasty breakfasts and lunches...check them out if you are in the neighborhood or just getting off the Congress to have some coffee in an old-school diner!

This place was a truck stop in the 1950s when Tom owned it. A Greek bought it and continued for about 50 years but never changed the name. His son took over and renovated but it wasn't his calling so the business was up for sale. The new owners had little money so they could only afford an "M" for the sign and it became Mom's. The next owner is now in charge and hasn't changed much except a few more Mexican selections. Great for breakfast with fair prices and generous helpings. For a real brealfast get a skillet. The Mexican one is my all time breakfast favorite. Excellent coffee and service while you read the paper. Lunch is for the hungry with many typical diner items and daily specials. open 6am - 3pm

Great breakfast spot. The menu has a ton of selections, skillets, omelets, crepes, pancakes, and complete with some Mexican breakfast options. They have a large selection of steak options too. It was hard to decide, but opted for breakfast quesadillo with eggs, bacon, and cheese. Large serving! The chorizo is also delicious, and the has brown potatoes were cooked to perfection. Coffee was great too. Glad I finally stopped in to check this place out. Look forward to bringing the kids to enjoy the huge selection of pancake options.

My favorite diner place in the area, they have everything you expect at a diner such skillet meals, biscuits and gravy, burgers and full dinners . We've only been here for breakfast, but we've tried just about everything with great pleasure. If you're into Mexican breakfast, they make pretty good chilaquiles and have great beans to go with that! They also serve other Mexican goodies as "special of the day" or you can ask even if it's not in the menu. This place is run by a warm Mexican family who love and appreciate their customers very much; you can see this in the "regulars" and how they treat everyone. Service is good, usually a set of sisters who are delightful serve all customers; decor is a bit tired.

This is one of our favorite breakfast spots. I believe it's a family owned diner but the breakfasts have always been great (we haven't tried them for lunch or dinner) Everyone is always really friendly & you get a lot of food for the price (I don't always finish!) With every breakfast order, you get to choose grits or oatmeal brought out to you while you wait for your breakfast, then you're food is brought out to you after you finish. It's a small place that's easy to overlook due to the location but it's worth stopping in for breakfast!

Purchased a restaurant.com , and drove to the restaurant. When I got there, they said they were not accepting them anymore. Checked today, and they are still on restaurant.com If you make a commitment to restaurant.com , and the customer, then you should stick to it, not change your mind, after they purchase. Bad business! Nevertheless, my family of (5) ordered various dishes, and we ate there. The only dishes that were decent, were the arrachera & the chilaquiles, but overall the food was not that great. Will not be back again. Too many restaurants out there that are way better!
